After a stint with comedy in his last few films, seems like actor Abhishek Bachchan is making a comeback to action films. The latest buzz in B-town is that the Housefull 3 actor has bagged filmmaker Sanjay Gupta's next action entertainer.

After featuring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Jazbaa, Gupta is currently busy with Hrithik Roshan, Yami Gautam starrer Kaabil.

AB junior confirmed a film with Gupta at a recent event saying:

"I have liked the idea of Sanjay's film. It's an intense gangster drama. We are definitely working on that film. But the team is reworking the script at the moment. Sanjay, too, is busy with Kaabil and will direct this film only after that."

This new action-packed film is likely to be the third instalment in the popular Shootout franchise. According to a report in a leading daily, Sanjay Gupta is ready with the script of the third Shootout film and will start working on it post Kaabil. The report quotes:

"Sanjay who has made Shootout At Wadala and Shootout At Lokhandwala wanted to start the third Shootout film right away, but it took some time to take off. He is almost ready with the script now and will begin Shootout 3 with Abhi after he finishes shooting Kaabil with Hrithik Roshan. The film will revolve around encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar, who had killed as many as 80 anti-social elements. It's a gritty action drama, true to the franchise."

The earlier two films in the gangster franchise -- Shootout at Lokhandwala and Shootout at Wadala fared well at the Box Office.

Abhishek has played the role of a goon -- Lallal Singh, in Mani Ratnam's Yuva. He went on to garner a lot of praise for his performance in the film.

While it has been a long time since we've seen Abhishek Bachchan in an action film, this third Shootout film could also prove as a game changer in the actor's career.
