#poochoverpataka: Alia Bhatt's special Diwali campaign calls for animal safety

Speed News Desk | Updated on: 18 October 2017, 12:22 IST

The 25-year-old Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt has taken an initiative this Diwali to increase awareness towards the safety of animals.
She seems to be a true animal lover and it is easy to make this out from her Instagram posts. The actress loves her adorable pets- Edward, Sheeba and Pikka. Her Instragram profile is flooded with adorable pictures of the trio.

Diwali could be a real threat to the animals, since the pollution and loud sound of the crackers can seriously harm them. Not taking such things seriously enough, people often play pranks on the animals too.

Alia Bhatt’s initiative is to create awareness towards such acts and also make the animals a part of our celebration in a better way. To bring down the stress and anxiety the animals go through while we celebrate our festival, she started a #poochoverpataka campaign by posting a video related to the cause on social media.

This Diwali, I choose #PoochOverPataka. Do you? 🙏😶

Alia also asked people to support this initiative by taking a pledge as she urged people to post a picture with their pets or any animal in their locality. Within a few hours, the campaign went viral and people started posting pictures with the hashtag poochoverpataka. The initiative is also being supported by a few actors from B-town- Athiya Shetty and Masaba Gupta- through uploading pictures with the mentioned hashtag.

Here is how people joined the campaign:

In this Diwali ...I choose #poochoverpataka And going to celebrate it with my street fam by raising my voice "say no to cracker" Diwali is festival of light not noise so let us all celebrate a noisefree and crackerfree Diwali Please all #doglover spread this awareness as much as possible . Please remember it's not about all the pet ones at home but also the stray ones on the streets. 🐶Thanks to @aliaabhatt for being our voice ❤️️ #lipikabiswas #lebeccafashion #poochoverpataka . . . . . . . #plixxocrackerfreediwali #myrighttobreathe #plixxo #plixxobypopxo @plixxo #noicefreediwali #crakerfreediwali #diwali2017 #diwalivibes #safediwali #safediwalipeacefuldiwali #dogsofinstgram #indiandog #indiandogsarethebest #peacefuldiwali #punedogs #punedoglovers #punefashionblogger #puneinstagrammers #delhifashionblogger #delhidogs #pawfamily #notocrackers #nonoice #helpstreetanimals
