Jolly LLB 2 to Tiger Zinda Hai: 7 sequels Bollywood has to offer in 2017!

The trend of sequels and franchises in Bollywood started in late 2000's with Golmaal, Housefull, Dhoom, and Krrish proving to be successful bets.

While a few sequels justified their need, there have been many like Dabangg 2, Singham Returns, Force 2 which were made just to bank on the brand name. The year 2017 has just started and we have many sequels lined up for release.

Here's a look at them:

Jolly LLB 2:

Director: Subhash Kapoor

Star-Cast: Akshay Kumar, Huma Qureshi

Release Date: 10 February 2017

The Subhash Kapoor directorial is a sequel to 2013 sleeper hit film, Jolly LLB, starring Arshad Warsi in lead. The movie is a satire looking at the judicial system of our country.

Badrinath Ki Dulhania:

Director: Shashank Khaitan

Star-Cast: Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt

Release Date: 10 March 2017

Produced by Karan Johar, Badrinath Ki Dulhania is essentially a franchise film. The first of this franchise was Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania which was a smash hit at the Box-Office.

Baahubali 2:

Director: SS Rajamouli

Star-Cast: Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubati

Release Date: 28 April 2017

Baahubali was always planned as a two film franchise. The first film lead to a national debate as everyone was speculating, 'Why did Kattapa Kill Baahubali?', as in the climax Baahubali gets stabbed my his trusted aide, Katappa. The second one promises to conclude the debate.

Judwaa 2:

Director: David Dhawan

Star-Cast: Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Taapsee Pannu

Release Date: 29 September 2017

20 years after Judwaa, David Dhawan and Sajid Nadiadwala have decided to revive the film with Judwaa 2. Varun Dhawan might just be the ideal replacement for Salman Khan as the young actor has proved ability to take up comic characters with Main Tera Hero, even though he is yet to amass the fan frenzy that Khan does.

Director: Shankar

Star-Cast: Rajinikanth, Amy Jackson, Akshay Kumar

Release Date: Diwali 2017

Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar have teamed up for the first time for this Shankar directorial. While Kumar will essay the character of a scientist turned crow, Rajinikanth will take forward his iconic character of Chitti. This is expected to be lot of fun.

Golmaal Again:

Director: Rohit Shetty

Star-Cast: Ajay Devgn, Parineeti Chopra, Tabu

Release Date: November 2017

This is the fourth instalment of Golmaal Franchise and the director has promised to up his game post the failure of Dilwale. Let's see if he finally manages to live up to the first Golmaal, which till date remains the best among the others.

Tiger Zinda Hai:

Director: Ali Abbas Zafar

Star-Cast: Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif

Release Date: 22 December 2017

Produced by YRF, the action thriller is touted as the biggest film of the year and if Ali Abbas Zafar manages to live onto the hype and expectations, we can expect this one to set some new records at the Box-Office. The film is a sequel to 2012 blockbuster, Ek Tha Tiger.

Apart from the major ones, the year will also see release of films like Commando 2 and Sarkar 3.
