The trend of sequels and franchises in Bollywood started in late 2000's with Golmaal, Housefull, Dhoom, and Krrish proving to be successful bets.
While a few sequels justified their need, there have been many like Dabangg 2, Singham Returns, Force 2 which were made just to bank on the brand name. The year 2017 has just started and we have many sequels lined up for release.

The Subhash Kapoor directorial is a sequel to 2013 sleeper hit film, Jolly LLB, starring Arshad Warsi in lead. The movie is a satire looking at the judicial system of our country.

20 years after Judwaa, David Dhawan and Sajid Nadiadwala have decided to revive the film with Judwaa 2. Varun Dhawan might just be the ideal replacement for Salman Khan as the young actor has proved ability to take up comic characters with Main Tera Hero, even though he is yet to amass the fan frenzy that Khan does.

Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar have teamed up for the first time for this Shankar directorial. While Kumar will essay the character of a scientist turned crow, Rajinikanth will take forward his iconic character of Chitti. This is expected to be lot of fun.

Produced by YRF, the action thriller is touted as the biggest film of the year and if Ali Abbas Zafar manages to live onto the hype and expectations, we can expect this one to set some new records at the Box-Office. The film is a sequel to 2012 blockbuster, Ek Tha Tiger.
