PM Modi and Amit Shah replace Chacha Chaudhary and Sabu; here's how

Comics was an integral part of childhood kids born in 90’s era and among the many characters, Chacha Chaudhary and his mate Sabu were very famous. In the current digital era, comics have almost lost in charm. But in a recent move, Maharashtra government has planned to include the Chacha Chaudhary and Sabu comics in the syllabus of children as supplementary reading. But the government has also added the PM Modi pictorial form on the cover page of the comics along with Chacha Chaudhary and Sabu. This move can be critically analysed as pure Public Relation agenda.

There was a very famous line “Chacha Chaudhary ka dimag computer se Bhi tez chalta hai (Chacha Chaudhary’s brain is faster than a computer) in Chacha Chaudhary and Sabu Comics. That could be compared to the current PR strategy of Bhartiya Janata Party led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. Any such communication material which directly deals with kids mind has the capacity to influence it and mould it in a certain direction. On one side we can see this move as an interaction of prime minister with children but also can be seen as a move to create a support in favour of the PM Narendra Modi which will go indirectly to BJP.

The book entitled “Chacha Chaudhary and Modi” will show Chacha promoting union government under PM Modi’s leadership and will be kept at libraries of schools under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan so that students can enjoy reading them in free time.

The NCP leader and Member of Parliament have also criticised this move by saying that “ “Education is a serious topic and it has been the tradition that all parties including those who have been in opposition have always taken efforts to take right decisions regarding our education system. However, this government has not left even education system to carry out Modi’s propaganda. The education system should not be used for political gains but Modi government has brought its marketing into the education system. Students can take a call on what they want to read but it is really unfortunate that the government is introducing such books to them under Sarva Siksha Abhiyan.”
