Indian shuttler PV Sindhu has been knocked out in the opening round of Korea Open Super 500 after losing to America’s Beiwen Zhang.

PV Sindhu, who was knocked out from the China Open in the pre-quarterfinals last week, could not find the way past Zhang as she lost the match 21-7, 22-24, 15-21. Sindhu had beaten Beiwen Zhang during the World Championship at Basel earlier this month.

It was a tough game for the world champion as she had a match point in the second game. But Beiwen stayed their and eventually won the match comfortably. With this victory, the American shuttler ended a three match losing streak against PV Sindhu.

Beiwen Zhang defeated PV Sindhu twice last year at the India Open and Denmark Open.
