Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal crashes out in 1st round of China open

There was no end to Indian shuttler Sania Nehwal’s poor run of form as she charshed out of the Fuzhou China Open after losing in the first round match at Haixia Olympic Centre.

The 29 year old Indian shuttler was defeated through the hands of China’s Cai Yan Yan 21-9, 21-12, in the game that went on for 24 minutes.


Earlier, Pranaav Jerry Chopra and N. Sikki Reddy were knocked out from the tournament after losing to Taiwan’s Wang Chi-Lin and Chenh Chi Ya 21-14, 21-14 in the mixed doubles match.

In the men’s singles, HS Prannoy, who recently recuperated from dengue, lost to Denmark’s Rasmus Gemke 17-21, 18-21.

PV Sindhu has also been knocked out from the championship.
