Everything you need to know about Intel's first 9th-generation Core processors

Intel had to delay its 10 nm silicon to 2020, but if everything goes well, fans may definitely get something big this year.

According to the sources, Intel is expected to launch its all-new 9th generation Core processors, for the first time.

The tech giant will launch its 9th-generation Core desktop processors in October, starting with unlocked models that could make the company's eight-core performance more accessible.

The first mainstream desktop Core i9 chip -- you may not have to pay a fortune for an X-series or Extreme Edition CPU. It would tout a 3.6GHz base clock speed, but could boost to 4.7GHz with all eight cores (5GHz with one or two cores) and support up to 16 code threads.

The Core i7-9700K, would be the first mainsteam 8-core i7 part.

It too would start at 3.6GHz, although its boost speed would top out at 4.6GHz for all cores (4.9GHz for one core) and would only support eight threads. There would also be a mid-tier Core i5-9600K processor with six cores, six threads, a 3.7GHz base clock and a 4.3GHz boost with all cores (4.6GHz with one).

Not all 9th gen Cores are that exciting, however. The Core i5-9600K, for example, still has 6 cores and is almost identical to the 8th gen Core i5-8600K.

What we have observed is the only difference between them is the higher 3.7 GHz base speed in the upcoming processor which gives an equal amount of higher boost speeds. Besides, if we think about it, on the upside, it at least has the same 95 W TDP as its predecessor.
