The Nobel prize 2018 will be given in 2019 said the Stockholm-based organisation. This decision came after a weekly meeting in Stockholm. The string of sex abuse allegations and the odd situation has led to such a decision.

Image of Swedish Academy which gives Nobel Prize has been affected after series of allegations. The academy’s permanent secretary Anders Olsson said, "We find it necessary to commit time to recovering public confidence in the Academy before the next laureate can be announced,” He also added that they are acting out of respect for previous and future literature laureates.

It was after a wave of #MeToo movement that the scandal was brought to the limelight and Swedish king intervened to deal with allegations of sexual harassment.

Post World War II this is the first time that the prestigious award is not being given. Last year British novelist Kazuo Ishiguro won the Nobel prize.
