Beijing [China]: Thirteen people lost their lives after a fire broke out in a school dormitory in China's Henan province late Friday night, according to the Global Times.

The fire broke out in a dormitory of Yingcai School in Yanshanpu village, Nanyang, in Central China's Henan province.

One person sustained injuries following the incident.

As of now, "the managers of the school have been detained," Global Times said in a post on X. The investigation of the case is underway.
Further details are awaited.

Deadly blazes in China are frequent, often attributed to the insufficient implementation of construction and safety regulations.

For instance, in November, a substantial fire engulfed an office building in Luliang City, Shanxi province, resulting in the tragic loss of 26 lives.

Similarly, in Beijing last April, a fire at a hospital claimed the lives of at least 29 individuals, predominantly patients. The incident prompted an inquiry, leading to the police detaining 12 individuals for interrogation.

Disturbing videos of the inferno depicted individuals resorting to climbing out of windows onto air conditioning units in desperate attempts to escape the raging flames.
