The toddler was suffering from a rare neurological disease. After the court ruling, his ventilator support was removed on Monday. He lived for more than a day before death.

Baby Evans parents wanted to shift him to Italy where the doctors were ready to treat the toddler. It was after Pope Francis intervention in the case that people from across the world came to know about Evan's suffering.

Pope  Francis had once tweeted, "Parents' "desire to seek new forms of treatment may be granted".

Earlier Italy said that it was willing to give citizenship to the toddler. They even said that an Italian defence ministry medical evacuation plane is on standby to fly Evans to Italy.

According to the British law parents' cannot demand a particular treatment to be continued if the burdens of the treatment outweigh the benefits for the child.

A High Court judge Anthony Hayden said on Tuesday rejected claims by the parents that baby Evans was "significantly better".
