For the last six months, the victim was living with his father. During this time, the man allegedly married her off without telling his wife.

The mother of the victim girl came to know about the incident on June 17 through a relative. After seeing wedding pictures of her daughter, the woman immediately lodged the complaint against her husband at the Saswad police station.

Police registered a case against Raju Pawar, Abbu Ramesh Pawar, Rajkanya Sadashiv Pawar, Mukesh Ramesh Pawar, and Ajay Ramesh Pawar under the child marriage law. All the accused are from Asalgaon taluka in Buldhana district, India Today report said.

According to the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act of 2006, child marriage is illegal in India. In the case of males, the right age to get married is 21 years while 18 years in the case of females.
