A shocking footage of an officer of the Indian consulate in New York has gone viral on social media. The viral clip was shared by talk show host Simi Garewal on her Twitter handle.

However, the exact reason behind this argument is not known yet. But, the video has sparked strong reactions from netizens.

In the viral clip, the woman is trying to ask the officer why he is denying giving her a visa even after submitting all the documents and fees for it. The adamant officer returned all the woman’s documents. He clearly said that he will not provide her visa. In the whole video, the woman and the person accompanying her tried to know the reason with the officer but he turned away and left the room.

At the end of the clip, security personnel came and asked the woman to stop recording the incident for security reasons.

Reportedly, the woman had applied for a visa to India as had lost her father.

Simi Garewal shared the viral clip on Twitter along with a caption, “On 24/11/2021. Indian embassy New York. Her father had died & she wanted a visa for India. This is the obnoxious behavior of an Indian officer in the New York Consulate towards her. @DrSJaishankar @MEAIndia @PMOIndia, you can't ignore this.”

Meanwhile, the video has garnered over 62k views and prompted several reactions.

Some netizens requested the External Affairs Ministry to look into this matter. While some other users also shared their experiences at the Indian consulate in New York.
