Madhya Pradesh's Ghusiya Village

In a state where residents are rationing water because of the early beginning of blistering summer, villagers in Ghusiya village in Madhya Pardesh have recoursed to risking their lives for the life-source.

In this video footage uploaded by news agency ANI, inhabitants of the village are seen walking long distances only to get to a well with hardly any water inside.

A local woman climbs the wall of the well wearing a saree and is not supported by a rope or harness while others keep watching. Another woman sporting a yellow kurta is also seen inside the well and climbing out of it.

The surface of the well is littered with puddles of water, as villagers hunch over what water remains. The villagers scoop the water with small bowls into buckets suspended with a help of a rope.

Speaking to the news agency ANI, locals expressed their disappointment with political parties and leaders.

"Government employees and political leaders only come during elections. This time we have decided not to give votes until we have a proper water supply. We have to go down the well to collect water. There are 3 wells, all have almost dried, no hand pumps have water", Villagers said.

84 blocks out of 313 in the state of Madhya Pradesh are confronted by severe water crisis, and drinking water remains beyond the reach for lakhs of inhabitants in the state.
