Misleading image of UP police officer pinning down woman goes viral; know the truth

The misleading image of a cop who was accused of misconduct towards women had gone viral in Uttar Pradesh’s Dehat district, later, turned out to be fake. It was found that it was the woman who dragged him holding his collar.

However, social media posted an image alleging that the cop was sitting on top of the woman and beating her up. But, in actuallity the cop was trying to resist and save himself from the lady who was pulling him down by his collar. The deceptive video clip of the image has given rise to outrage on social media.


The cop in the video, identified as Pukhrayan outpost in-charge Mahendra Patel was accused of misconduct with women when he went to raid the house of one of the accused.

The incident took place when police officials arrived at the residence of accused Surjit Yadav and ran into resistance by some locals, which included women.

The police team arrived at the house with Pukhrayan outpost in-charge Mahendra Patel and four constables.

The women present at the spot have accused the police of misbehaviour.

However, the state police have turned down such allegations and said the women tried to free the accused and got into a fight with police.

An investigation has been ordered into the incident.
