In a shocking incident reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district, a man allegedly killed his father, aged 75, by strangling him with the help of his two sons and a nephew at Mau village which falls under the jurisdiction of Majhola police station. A dispute over property led to the crime, said the police.

The 75-year-old victim was identified as Gajraj Singh, a former pradhan of the village. His autopsy report suggest that he was strangulated. On Tuesday, police took the victim’s son, identified as Dharampal, his two sons and nephew Ankit into their custody in connection with the murder. The four arrestees have been charged under various Indian Penal Code sections, including 302 (murder).

As maintained by a report in The Times of India, Dharmpal, in 2018, had allegedly murderd his mother by poisoning her food. He, however, was “let free” over the dearth of evidence against him. He was angry with his father, as the latter had sold their ancestral property without the consent of the former. Further, Dharmpal feared that his father would give away the remaining property to his sisters. As a consequence, he decided to murder him.

The accused (Dharmpal), after being nabbed by the cops, confessed to having killed his father. “The suspect was taken into police custody and during questioning, he confessed to murdering his father for property and said his two sons and a nephew helped him do so…The accused also confessed to trying to kill his parents earlier, too. He had offered money to a truck driver to run over his father after a failed attempt to poison him,” Moradabad SP Amity Kumar Anand said.

In another incident brought to light from the national capital’s Mundka area, a woman died after she was shot in the neck allegedly by her son at their residence on 1st September. The accused, identified as Sandeep, was taken into police custody on 7th September after a massive manhunt.
