In a shocking incident of crime reported from the national capital’s Rajouri Garden, a two-year-old was allegedly abducted and murdered by his aunt and uncle, police said.

The accused has been identified as Yamuna, aged 24 and her husband Rajesh, residents of Raghubir Nagar, have been taken into police custody, they said.

A day after the two-year-old went missing from his house, police recovered his corpse from a flooded drain in Punjabi Bagh.

As maintained by cops, Yamuna felt that her mother loved her sister's son more than her daughter, because of which she hatched the plan to murder the toddler.

Ten police teams were set-up and they started tracing the missing toddler, a senior police officer said.

Police explored the CCTV recordings and saw the accused Yamuna and Rajesh taking the boy towards Ganda Nala, Punjabi Bagh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Urvija Goel said.

Yamuna was caught at Subhash Nagar and upon interrogation, revealed that she and Rajesh had kidnapped and murdered the toddler, the DCP said.

The accused took the kid to Punjabi Bagh drain, strangulated him and to confirm that the toddler was dead, drowned him in the drain, police said.
