Tamil Nadu: Man blindfolded, brutally thrashed with stick on suspicion of stealing money

A man belonging to Dalit community was brutally beaten up by four men in Tamil Nadu’s Thanjavur on suspicion of stealing Rs 30,000 in cash on Thursday.

The victim, identified as Rahul, was blindfolded, brutally thrashed with a stick by four men for allegedly stealing money. Police said all four accused have been charged with an attempt to murder.


According to reports, Rahul was working for one of the accused (Karnan) in the sand transportation business. Police said on 31st January, Rs 30,000 in cash went missing from Karnan's house. Karnan suspected Rahul of stealing the cash and apprised the matter to his son.

The son, identified as Lakshmanan then called his friends, some of whom worked for Karnan, and allegedly took Rahul to a farm field, blindfolded him and brutally beat him up with a wooden stick.

A video clip of the gruesome incident has also gone viral on the internet displaying the men taking turns in beating up Rahul, who was also blindfolded.

Rahul kept on entreating for help asking them to stop, but the men went on thrashing him, the clip displays.

Rahul is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital.
