Tamil Nadu horror: 2 minors among 4 held for raping, robbing woman at knifepoint

In what was a shocking incident reported from Tamil Nadu’s Vellore, A woman on her way to a hospital with her male friend was allegedly gang-raped on 17th March.

The incident surfaced when the woman sent an e-mail to Vellore SP on Tuesday, March 22, narrating her ordeal. The complainant said that she, along with her male friend, had hired an autorickshaw around 1 am on 17th March 17 after watching a film. She told the auto driver to drop them at Vellore’s private hospital.


According to the woman, four men were sitting in the vehicle. But the couple decided to get on the autorickshaw as it was late and they feared that they won’t get another ride.

The couple became suspicious as the auto driver took a different course. When they asked him, the auto driver replied that the usual was was shut for maintenance and before they could act, he started to drive at a high speed.

The autorickshaw driver then stopped the auto at an isolated area where he and the four other men held the couple at knifepoint, robbed them of the cellphone, Rs 40,000, and two gold coins. The five then went on to gang rape the woman.

The Vellore Police got a breakthrough in the case on Tuesday when two men were held for starting a drunken brawl. As the police interrogated them, the drunk men had confessed to the crime, saying that they were fighting over sharing the loot.

The duo then revealed the details on the other accused, of which two were under age. The minors were then arrested. A case under sections 147, 148, 342, 365, 378, 376 (D), 376 (E), 395, 397 and 506 (II) was lodged against the perpetrators and the police are now on the lookout for the fifth accused.
