Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati passes away at age of 99; PM Modi, Shah grieve

The top religious leader was 99 years old.

Dwarka Peeth Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati passed away today, September 11, in Madhya Pradesh’s Narsinghpur.

According to Swami Sadanand Maharaj, the second-in-command of the Dwarka Peeth, the seer breathed his last around 3:30 pm at the Shridham Jhoteshwar Ashram in Narsinghpur. The top religious leader was 99 years old.

As per ANI, the seer died of a minor heart attack. His funeral will take place tomorrow. Swaroopanand was the Shankracharya of Sharda, Dwarka and Jyotish Peeth.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was deeply saddened by the demise of the seer.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah extended his condolences

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also expressed his grief.
