Spurned lover kills bride’s cousin while trying to kill groom

Uttar Pradesh: In a shocking incident has been reported from a wedding function in Uttar Pradesh. A 38-year-old man was allegedly killed by a jilted lover of a bride.

Initially, the 38-year-old man’s death was suspected to be a reason of celebratory firing during the wedding. However, it came to know that the man was allegedly killed by the bride’s spurned lover who was trying to kill the groom.


The accused identified as Vivek Singh, who has now been arrested by the police, timesnownews.com reported.

According to reports, the victim identified as Prem Singh, who died on the way to the hospital. He sustained a gunshot injury during the wedding of his cousin's sister at Saraykher Kha village under the limits of Raniganj Police Station in Pratapgarh district on Tuesday night.

The wedding guest thought the Prem got killed during the celebratory firing, but soon, it was found that Vivek had opened the fire to kill the groom but, the bullet missed the target and hit Prem.

After alerting about the incident, police came to the spot and initiated investigations, and nabbed Vivek under murder charges under the Indian Penal Code.

Vivek’s friend Firoz Alam also got arrested as he was also present with him at the time of the shooting.

According to Deputy SP (Raniganj), Dr Atul Anjan Tripathi told that the prime accused had been threatening the woman and her family members against her wedding with anyone else.
As per The Times of India report, Vivek also made several attempts to prevent the fixing of the marriage of his girlfriend, the bride’s father told police.
