Shocker: 39-year-old man molests woman inside Delhi Metro coach

In a shocking incident reported from the national capital, Delhi Police on Wednesday took a 39-year-old man into their custody for allegedly molesting a woman inside the Delhi Metro coach.

The matter became known when the victim approached the police alleging that it was when she boarded a crowded metro from Karkardooma station on the Blue Line that a man standing next to her tried to touch her genitals several times. Shocked, the woman objected and raised alarms, further asking other passengers to stop the train.


Later, the woman got off the metro train at Yamuna Bank metro station and so did the accused where the woman tried confronting him. Soon, police were notified about the incident and an investigation was launched into the matter.

On the basis of the complaint registered by the victim and the CCTV footage, the accused identified Sanjeev Kumar, was located at Preet Vihar metro station, following which he was arrested.

The accused has been identified as Sanjeev Kumar, a resident of Delhi’s Krishna Nagar.

In another incident, a 35-year-old tempo driver was taken into police custody for allegedly abducting and raping a seven-year-old girl in Mumbai's eastern suburb of Ghatkopar.

The accused was arrested by the Mumbai Police within 24 hours of the incident late on Wednesday night.

The horrifying incident happened on Tuesday when the accused found the child alone in a locality and lured her with a bar of chocolate.

The accused took the girl to an isolated area, where he allegedly raped her and then ran away from the spot. A passerby saw the girl weeping and alerted the police, according to news agency PTI.

The victim narrated the incident after counselling. Special teams were set uo to trace and arrest the accused.

Police looked into the CCTV recording from the area and detained the accused.

A case was registered against the accused under relevant sections of the IPC and further investigations are underway.
