In an appalling incident reported from Punjab, a woman has lodged a complaint with the Ludhiana Police, accusing her 27-year-old live-in partner of raping her 14-year-old daughter when she was not around.

According to the complainant, in 2000, she tied knot with a man from Sangrur district and has a daughter with him. Four years before, the woman left her husband and began living in a different house along with her kid. Later, she met a farmer from Ludhiana. The two got on well and began living together.

“Due to matrimonial issues, I along with my daughter started living separately four years ago. Later, I met the accused and started living with him. The accused would rape my daughter on finding her alone. When I came to know about it, I tried to stop him, but he thrashed me brutally,” a report by The Times of India (TOI) quoted the woman as saying.

In line with the complaint, the police have filed a case under sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and applicable sections of the POCSO Act.

The police have asked the authorities to conduct the minor girl’s medical, and attempts are being made to nab the accused.

In a similar type of incident, a six-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by her maternal uncle and maternal grandfather in Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.

The incident came to light after the victim’s mother observed some changes in her actions. The girl, on being persuaded, told her mother about her experience. The child told her mother that her maternal uncle took her to a relative's home on the pretext of buying samosas for her. Her maternal grandfather was already present at the spot. The two then sexually assaulted her. They also threatened her against telling the incident to anyone.

According to police, the elder accused is the victim’s biological maternal uncle while the younger accused is a distant relative.
