In a recent development coming in from Maharashtra’s Pune, state police arrested a father son duo for killing a 62-year-old woman and dumping her mutilated body parts near a river.

The elderly woman, identified as Usha Gaikwad, was murdered by her son and grandson, allegedly after she asked them to leave her house.

The elderly victim asked both accused to leave the house. Infuriated by this, they murdered the woman, stuffed her body parts in a gunny bag and disposed it near a river.

In the time of investigation, the police recovered body parts floating near Theur on the banks of the Mutha river on August 23.

In an attempt to save themselves, the father-son duo filed a missing report at Mudhwa police station.

However, the victim's daughter had her doubts and she also registered an FIR and claimed the likely hand of the father-son duo behind the disappearance of her mother.

In the time of interrogation, the accused revealed that they were infuriated at the victim as she owned the house in the Keshav Nagar locality and had gold jewellery.

"As per the information given by the accused, Sahil strangled the woman to death. He bought an electric cutter machine and chopped her body into pieces to destroy evidence. He stuffed them into a gunny bag which was dumped into the river," an officer said.

Pune police have flied a case against the father-son duo under the charges of murder and destroying evidence.
