PM Kedarnath visit: Modi dons traditional Himachali 'Chola Dora', gifted by Chamba women

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on October 21, visited Kedarnath and offered prayers at the prominent Kedarnath shrine. Donning a traditional dress of Himachal Pradesh, he offered prayers to Lord Shiva.

The handmade traditional outfit was gifted to the Prime Minister by the women of Chamba during his recent visit to Himachal Pradesh. PM Modi, on receiving the pahadi outfit, promised the women that he would wear it at the first instance during a visit to a cold region. The white coloured dress sports detailed hand embroidery work.


Prime Minister Modi performed puja at Kedarnath Temple today. He was accompanied by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The PM also visited the Adi Guru Shankaracharya Samadhi Sthal at Kedarnath.

PM Modi's schedule

PM Modi is on a two-day visit to the state. During the visit, he will review various ongoing projects and will also lay foundation stones for some new ones, including laying the foundation stone for 9.7 km Gaurikund-Kedarnath ropeway project.

Interaction with Shramjeevis

The Prime Minister, after offering prayers at Kedarnath Temple, interacted with ‘Shramjeevis’, who build several developmental projects in Kedarnath. PM Modi asked them about their family members, and also enquired if they received the benefits of government schemes.

Packed schedule of PM Modi

For the first time, PM Modi will stay a night in Badrinath. He is also scheduled to visit Mana village, which is the last border village on the India-China border. There he will review the development programme. The Prime Minister will also review the ongoing Badrinath Master Plan.

On October 22, the PM will participate in the Griha Pravesham function of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) beneficiaries in Madhya Pradesh via videoconferencing. He will also attend the programme that will impact the youth across the country.

On October 23, PM Modi will reach the holy city of Ayodhya. There, he will offer prayers to Lord Ram followed by an inspection of the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra site. He will also attend the Rajya-Abhishek of Bhagwan Shri Ram. PM Modi will also witness the maha aarti at Saryu river ghat and will also participate in Deepotsav celebrations.
