Photos from Pushkar: India's largest camel mela is a sight to behold
The Pushkar mela - India\'s largest camel fair, just came to an end. Held each November in Pushkar, Rajasthan, at the time of the Kartik Purnima full moon, the fair sees livestock owners, primarily camel herders, gather on the banks of Pushkar Lake to buy and sell livestock. The fair draws over 400,000 visitors over two weeks.
While business at this year\'s fair was dampened by the Modi government\'s recent demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, the event was still as colourful as ever. Apart from the animals on display, which include thousands of camels, there are also a host of activities including a longest moustache competition, sports between locals and foreigners, camel races and locals bedecked in Rajasthan\'s trademark bright colours.
For those of you not lucky enough to experience it in person, here\'s a selection of photos to give you a taste of the flavour of the Pushkar Mela.
