Patna Shocker: Minor girl admitted to isolation ward raped by security guard

A private security guard at the Patna Medical College and Hospital was taken into custody on Wednesday in connection with the rape of a minor girl and for molesting other girl at the isolation ward the night before.

The accused, who has been identified as Mahesh Singh, has been put behind bars.


The two girls who were brought to the PMCH by child rights activist on 8th July after they exhibited symptoms for Covid-19.

The shocking incident surfaced, when the girls told their unpleasant experience to child activists, who came to see them at the hospital on Wednesday.

“Singh was arrested on the basis of the girls’ statement. A case has been registered with women’s police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012,” said Arti Jaiswal, Station House Officer (SHO), women’s police station, Patna.

Furthermore, she said that the accused was posted at PMCH for the last four months.
