Despite India’s effort to tackle pollution, eight of its cities are featured in the list of the top 10 most polluted cities of Asia. Surprisingly, Delhi has managed to tick off the list this time.

With the worst air quality, Gurugram topped the list of the top 10 most polluted cities in Asia. On Sunday morning, October 22, the air quality index (AQI) recorded in Gurugram was 679, followed by Dharuhera town (near Rewari) with an AQI of 543 and Muzaffarpur (Bihar) with an AQI of 316.

Other Indian cities featured on the defamed list are - Talkator, Lucknow (AQI 298), DRCC Anandpur, Begusarai (AQI 269), Bhopal Chauraha, Dewas (AQI 266), Khadakpada, Kalyan (AQI 256), Darshan Nagar and Chhapra (AQI 239).

Apart from India, China’s Xiaoshishang Port in Luzhou and Bayankhoshuu in Mongolia are also featured in the list.

The air quality in India will worsen post-Diwali as people will burst firecrackers to celebrate the grand festival. The air quality in Delhi is expected to worsen like every year during the Diwali festival due to firecrackers busting, and stubble burning combined with winter.

The list has been released by the World Air Quality Index, which aims to raise public awareness about air pollution and provide people with unified data on global air quality.
