Man kills wife, burns body for opposing his extramarital affair

In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old woman was allegedly murdered and incinerated by her husband for disapproving of his extramarital relationship, police said on Monday.

The victim has been identified as Jyoti, they said, adding her father, Jagroop, lodged a police complaint on 16th June at Jafarganj police station after she went missing.


On 18th June, the victim’s father accused his son-in-law, Rajesh, of killing her, Station House Officer (SHO) Rajiv Singh said.

Rajesh confessed to have committed the horrific crime while in police custody, the SHO said.

Rajesh told police that he murdered his wife and burnt the dead body in the forest of Anusuiya Ashram in Chitrakoot.

The remains of the corpse were recovered from the forest on Monday and later sent it for post-mortem, police said.

In another similar incident, The police have identified the burnt body which was found stuffed inside a suitcase near SVRR Government Hospital five days ago as that of a 27-year-old techie based in Hyderabad.

The key suspect in the case is her husband, who is believed to have murdered her and fled.

The mystery surrounding the undientified dead corpse, burnt beyond recognition, was solved after cops looked into CCTV recordings around the hospital premises and found out who the cab driver was who helped the key accused dispose the body.

On interrogating the cab driver, cops identified the victim as Bhubaneshwari, aged 27, a native of Chittoor’s Ramasamundram and a software engineer who was working in Hyderabad.

According to police sources, The accused lied to his family and in-laws that his wife had been infected with the Delta Plus variant of COVID-19 and succumbed to it. He further stated that her body was cremated by the hospital staffs.

The lie was uncovered when police investigating the case caught the cab driver who took the accused to the hospital. Police have set up a special team to trace and catch srikant, who is at the moment absconding.
