Ludhiana: 19-year-old youth thrashed to death with rods, baseball bats by girlfriend's kin

Irked by his alleged involvement with a girl of their family, a group of people in Ludhiana’s Moga allegedly beat up a 19-year-old boy to death. The incident happened during the early hours of Wednesday at the Dhalleke village.

The victim identified as Inderjit Singh’s father Naib Singh said that his son had been missing from their home on the day of the incident.


For the last five months, inderjit and a girl from the same village was in a relationship. On Wednesday, the girl called Inderjit, asking him to come to her house to meet her.

The victim’s family started looking for him when he didn’t return home even after 4.30 pm. During this time, the family heard a commotion from the girl's home. Following this, Naib Singh and his family rushed to the girl's home only to find that their son was being beaten up.

The girl, her father, mother, brother and three cousins were allegedly assaulting Inderjit with pipes, rods and baseball bats. Harbans Singh, former village sarpanch rescued the victim and took him to the hospital. The 19-year-old boy later succumed to his injuries.

Karamjit Singh, Moga police station sub-inspector said all of the seven accused are absconding He told The Indian Express, "Police was informed about the incident after the youth had already succumbed to injuries at the hospital. We visited the girl's home and bloodstains have been found there. "

The police have booked the seven accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The police have not verified the role of the girl.
