Horror in the name of mask: Police constable abducts, rapes, blackmails woman with police action in Surat

In a shocking incident reported from Gujarat’s Surat, a police constable allegedly raped a 33-year-old women, after he caught her without wearing a mask. The accused is posted at Surat’s Umarpada police station. According to the woman, the accused abducted her from Palsana after threatening to take action.

Furthermore, the woman claimed that the accused raped her on multiple occasions over the next few months, terrifying her with serious action. While on one hand, the victim alleged rape, the accused cop's wife accused the woman of casteism.


The accused Naresh Kapadiya’s wife claimed that the victim and her husband had come to their home and hurled casteist remarks at him. Following Kapadiya's wife registered a police complaint. The victim and her husband were charged under The Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Preliminary investigation showed that in the time of lockdown last year, she was on her way to buy milk, when the accused allegedly abducted her. The accused threatened the woman with serious police action because she was not wearing a mask. Rather than taking the woman to the police station, he took her to Navsari Road where he allegedly stripped and beat her up.

The accused cop then took unsuitable pictures of the victim and allegedly raped her. Later, the accused used the photographs to blackmail the woman and kept on raping her. A police officer privy to the matter stated that," It seems the accused cop and the woman had an affair with each other. Following disputes, they lodged complaints against each other. "
