Honour killing: Couple tied knot secretly, father and cousin killed man in Tamil Nadu

In a shocking case has come light from Tamil Nadu, where a youth was killed by his girlfriend’s father and cousin after they got hitched secretly.

According to the reports in Times of India, the man was identified as M Sudhakar who is a construction worker belonging to a most backward caste, which led to communal tensions in Arani taluk of Tiruvannamalai.


The deceased was a resident of Morappanthangal, and his murder was believed to be the result of caste differences between the couple.

As per the reports, the girl belonged to the vanniyar community whereas the boy was from backward class.

According to police, the boy fell in love with the 19-year-old girl from the nearby village of Ondikudisai. After having six months of an affair, the couple decided to elope and got married at a temple in Walajapet and rented a house for 10 days. However, the duo didn’t register their marriage.

Later, their family came to know about their location and separated them through a local panchayat. However, Sudhakar fled to Chennai to protect himself from the girl’s parents and started working there.

Due to lockdown across the nation, he came back last week and was murdered on Sunday when he went out to relieve himself.

The police have filed a case against the girl’s father and cousin and arrested them. The two accused father and cousin has been identified as 45-year-old Moorthy and 25-year-old K Kathiravan.

Meanwhile, further investigation is underway.
