Haryana: Autorickshaw driver kidnaps college student and attempts to rape her

An autorickshaw driver allegedly kidnapped a college student and attempted to rape her in Haryana’s Hisar. The auto driver’s relative also connived with him in the crime. The two accused have been taken into custody after the police were informed about the incident.

A team of police led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bharti Dabas arrested the accused during the patrolling in the area, according to a report in News18 Hindi.


The kidnapping happened after the college student hired the auto to get to her college. The auto driver's relative was also present in the auto.

As the auto reached Airport Chowk, the accused started sexually harassing the girl. Later, the police patrolling team spotted the auto and started chasing it. The cops later arrested them.

According to the police, the girl is safe but is traumatised by the incident. Police further added that the accused will be produced in court to seek their remand for further probe.

The duo have been booked under various sections of the IPC, Section 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), 367 (kidnapping), 506 (criminal intimidation) and other sections of SC/ST Act.
