In a shocking case reported from Ghaziabad, police on Monday claimed to have solved a four-year-old case and apprehended two people allegedly involved in the killing of a man in 2018. Police also exhumed the dead body of the man who was allegedly murdered by his wife and a neighbour who she had an affair with.

The man's dead body was buried in the house owned by his wife's paramour, police said.

The victim, identified as Chandra Vir, a resident of Sikrod village, went missing on September 28, 2018, following which a kidnapping case was filed at Sihani Gate police station. As police could not make a breakthrough, the case was eventually closed. However, based on fresh inputs, police reopened the case recently.

The victim’s wife, identified as Savita was in a relationship with another man named Arun alias Anil Kumar before marriage and it continued. In her statement to police, Savita said Chandra Vir had caught her in compromising positions with Arun multiple times and that he used to beat her up for this, PTI reported.

On September 28, 2018, the man came back home in an intoxicated state and went off to sleep. Savita then called Arun over to her house. Using a country-made pistol, he allegedly pumped a bullet into Chandra Vir's head, killing him on the scene.

The murder weapon used in the crime and the axe used to dig the pit have been recovered by police.

"The skeleton was exhumed from a six-feet-deep pit inside Anil's house, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Deeksha Sharma was quoted as saying by PTI. DNA samples will be examined.
