Delhi shocker: Man kills father for refusing to give money for drugs

A man in the national capital was taken into police custody for murdering his father on Wednesday after his father refused to give him money to buy drugs, said police officials. The incident happened in northwest Delhi’s Subhash Place, officials added.

The deseased victim was identified as Suresh Kumar, a native of Shakurpur village. Delhi police received information about an argument in northwest Delhi's Subhash Place and officials reached the spot.

Upon arriving, police found Suresh injured and with abrasions. He was bleeding from one of his ears. He was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival, the police said.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest), Usha Rangnani, said that during the inquiry it was discovered that the victim had an argument with his son, identified as Ajay, over monetary issues.

During the argument, Ajay assaulted him since he refused to give him money to buy drugs, she said. She added that the accused had been taken into custody and charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

“A case has been registered under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and Ajay has been arrested. Further investigation is underway,” the DCP said.
