A 25-year-old man was taken into police custody on the charges of killing his girlfriend's father for turning down his marriage proposal. The alleged incident happened in Delhi's Sonia Vihar area.

According to Mumbai Mirror, the body of the victim, identified as Bijender Singh was found lying with multiple injuries to his head. In the time of investigation, police discovered that the victim's adopted daughter was in a relationship with a local boy. The parents were against their relationship, a police officer said.

The accused, Suraj Kumar, who resides in Sonia Vihar, works as a housekeeper at Palam Metro Station. Police officials further said that the accused allegedly took a knife from the kitchen and stabbed the girl’s father on the head and later hit him with a pressure cooker multiple times.

"The girl remained adamant on her relationship with the accused, therefore, the couple left her with her biological parents in Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh. After knowing that, Suraj's parents approached the girl's parents in Moradabad with a marriage proposal, but Singh strongly opposed their proposal, which agitated Suraj," a police officer said.

However, before the accused could run away, the police caught hold of him. During interrogation, he admitted that he drew out a plan to murder the girl's father for turning down the marriage proposal and started following the victim from November 28 onwards.
