Delhi man arrested for calling police with death threat to PM Modi

A 22-year-old man was taken into police custody in Delhi’s Khajuri Khas after he allegedly called the police with a death threat to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The man was reportedly out on bail and wanted to go back to jail.

The man, identified as Salman, made the death threat call to the police last night. The arrested accused called the police and said, "I want to kill Modi".

After the phone call, cops arrested the man from Delhi’s Khajuri Khas area. He was then brought to the police station for interrogation. In the time of questioning, the man said he made the phone call as he wanted to return to jail.

The accused, Salman has numerous cases against him and was out on bail, police found out. Since he wanted to return to jail, Salman called the police, issuing the death threat.

According to India Today, since the matter is connected to PM Narendra Modi, the intelligence officials, too, will interrogate the accused.

In January 2020, Salman was taken into police custody for allegedly issuing death threats to PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. He had put out messages online against the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and the proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC), the police said.
