In a shocking incident reported from the national capital, a woman with visual impairment was sexually assaulted by an unidentified man in Southwest Delhi’s Dabri area.

The horrifying incident, which happened two to three days back, surfaced when Delhi Commission for Women chairperson Swati Maliwal tweeted about the same.

In her tweet, DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal wrote, "On May 25, a blind girl mistakenly got down at another bus stop. A man took her to the street on the pretext of helping her cross the road but raped her. Police have arrested the man. I met the girl and we are completely helping her. But really — is there no limit to the animalistic mentality!"

The police arrived at the hospital where the victim woman revealed that she had been sexually assaulted by an unidentified man.

On the basis of her statement, a case was registered under section 376 (punishment for rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Dabri police station.

Through the medium of technical evidence, the accused was taken into police custody and sent to judicial custody, revealed Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Shankar Choudhary.

In another recent incident coming in from Uttar Pradesh’s Kanupr, a constable posted at Bilhaur police station was found dead inside his room in the wee hours of Thursday. The body had multiple injuries around the neck as the constable was murdered by slitting his throat.

The assailants allegedly ran away from the crime scene after locking the dead body inside a room.

Shortly, police were alerted who arrived at the spot and began a probe. It was discovered that the constable used to live with one of his colleagues who was also posted in the same police station in Kanpur's brahmpuri area.

While the deceased has been identified as constable Desh Deepak from Firojabad district.
