Delhi: 65-year-old woman, daughter stabbed to death at their residence in New Ashok Nagar

65-year-old women and her daughter were stabbed to death at their residence in Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar area on Monday, said police.

The deceased have been identified as Sumita and her daughter Samrita who was 25-year-old.


On scrutinising the CCTV footage of the area, police stated that two men were seen entering and exiting the house.

One of the accused, identified as Vinay was nabbed on the way to Jaipur following which a team of the Delhi Police has been sent to Rajasthan to bring him back.

"Various clues were developed by analysing the CCTV footage and local intelligence. We coordinated with the Rajasthan Police and with their help, we have apprehended the accused," said DCP (East) Jasmeet Singh.

Further probe will be continued after the accused is brought back to Delhi, said the DCP.

According to police Sumita worked in an event management firm while her daughter was undergoing training in the hospitality sector.

Police were informed about the crime by their neighbours. The codies were recovered from a pool of blood.

The neighbours told police that Sumita’s husband had passed away 20 years ago, a senior police official said.

It came into view that accused were waiting for Sumita, the officer told.

The two men ran away in Samrita’s car, stressing that the accused were known to her, the officer added.
