Class XI girl beheaded in front of school in MP

A horrifying incident took place in Kotma village of Madhya Pradesh, where a class XI student was allegedly killed in front of her school. On Thursday, the indicent took place in Kotma which is about 30 km away from Anuppur, the accused used to stalk the girl for years and the girl refused him. The police arrested him hours after he committed the crime. The girl was on her way to school for biology practical exam when the incident took place.

The police said, the exam was scheduled to begin at 1 PM in the afternoon and the victim was attacked around 12:30 PM. A retired school teacher was the only eyewitness of the case. The accused reportedly hacked girl’s neck thrice with a sword, severing it. The reports said, the girl dies on the spot and accused fled away.

The matter came to light when the teacher who witnessed the crime raised alarm and police were called. However, none of the other students were able to see the accused as they were inside the school.Based on the statement given by the girl’s family, the accused was arrested from his house.

Crime has been on rise in Madhya Pradesh from last few years. A similar incident took place when a 19-year-old UPSC aspirant was allegedly raped on October 31 last year while returning home from her coaching institute.

According to the data released by National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data for 2015, Madhya Pradesh reported the highest number of rape cases (4,391) in the country.

Girl was burnt alive in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao

In Uttar Pradesh, a disturbing incident took place where an 18-year-old girl was burnt to death last evening. her burnt body was found outside her village in Unnao district, about 100 kms from state capital Lucknow. The girl went to the nearby market in the area, where she was attacked by unidentified persons who may have used petrol to set her on fire, police said.The UP Police said, her body was found with 100 per cent burn injuries in the field where her cycle was lying next to her. A senior officer said, an empty can and bundel of matchsticks was found on the spot. We have registered a case of murder and any sexual assault will be confirmed in the post-mortem report.

A senior police officer said, "She had left home to buy vegetables around 4.30 pm. Soon after, her burnt body was recovered in the village. The news of her death spread in the village and her family rushed to the spot. They identified her cycle and slippers."

According to National Crime Records Bureau data, Uttar Pradesh accounted for 9.5 per cent of total crimes reported in the country in 2016. UP reported 14.5 per cent (49,262 out of 3,38,954 cases) of total cases of crimes against women.
