A shocking news was reported from Maharashtra’s Aurangabad where a 17-year-old Dalit boy was beheaded after his elder brother elopes with an upper-caste girl. The incident came to light on Tuesday when Dalit activists raised their voice against the brutal murder.

As per reports on Saturday girl’s father and uncle allegedly attacked boy’s parents and his younger brother with sharp weapons at Lakh Khandala village in Vaijapur tehsil. They tried to kill his parents as their 20-year-old daughter eloped with their son on 12th March.

Dalit activists and state home minister Anil Deshmukh took to their Twitter handle and wrote that they need Aurangabad’s rural police to conduct a complete investigation into the brutal murder case and file a charge sheet within 30 days.

Police who arrested girl’s father and brother produced them in court on Monday and remanded in police custody for four days. They booked the accuse under charges of murder and Sections of the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.

The boy’s family alleged that the police didn't take preventive action and merely recorded a missing complaint about their son. Police also ignored the threat the Gaikwad’s received from the girl’s family after the couple eloped.

Dalit activists have also demanded an inquiry into the police authorities for ignoring the complaint lodged by the Gaikwads.
