A father from Chennai’s New Washermanpet locality allegedly set seven motorcycles ablaze as his son was not listening to him.

According to timesnownews.com reports, the 52-year-old auto-rickshaw driver was not happy with his love relationship with a girl and wanted him to break-up with her. However, he denied to end his relationship with his girlfriend, therefore, the man set seven motorcycles on fire.

As per media reports, Karnan’s son identified as Arun was in a live-in-relationship with Rama (name changed). Karnan was not ready to accept their relationship and wanted them to be separated. But, his son ignored his order.

According to a report by The Times of India, Karnan got infuriated after he saw Rama travelling with his son on the motorcycle he had gifted him. Hence, he torched the bike using petrol on October 14. Further, he set fire to seven other motorcycles parked near his son’s bike in order to pass the incident as an accident and fled.

Initially, police unable to solve the case as there were no CCTV cameras installed at the incident location. Later, Arun’s girlfriend Rama filed a police complaint, stating that she has been receiving threats from her boyfriend’s father. Following this, police tracked down Karnan, who was missing since October 14. Finally, the police nabbed him last week.

During interrogation, he confessed to the crime. Meanwhile, he was sent to judicial custody by a city court on Saturday (December 12).
