Weather update: Extremely heavy rainfall to lash Rajasthan, MP; checkout latest forecast

The depression over Northwest Madhya Pradesh and East Rajasthan as well as Southwest Uttar Pradesh has moved westwards during the last six hours and lays centred over Northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas in East Rajasthan, about 20 km south-southeast of Guna (Madhya Pradesh), 80 km northeast of Rajgarh (Madhya Pradesh), 170 km east-southeastof Kota (Rajasthan) and 370 km east of Udaipur (Rajasthan). It is likely to move nearly westwards across northwest Madhya Pradesh towards East Rajasthan and weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area by tomorrow.

In the meantime, the monsoon trough now passes through the centre of the low-pressure area over southwest Rajasthan and adjoining southeast Pakistan, the centre of depression over Northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining East Rajasthan, Sidhi, Daltonganj, Digha and thence east-southeastwards to the northeast Bay of Bengal.


Widespread light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by extremely heavy falls is very likely over West Madhya Pradesh and East Rajasthan on August 22, while fairly widespread to widespread light or moderate rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is possible over northern parts of East Gujarat on August 22-23 and Rajasthan on August 23.

In addition, fairly widespread to widespread light or moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning has been predicted over West Rajasthan on August 22 and 24, East Madhya Pradesh on August 22 and 26, West Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa on August 23, Odisha on August 23 and 24, Gujarat on August 24, Saurashtra and Kutch on August 23, Chhattisgarh on August 25 and 26.

At the same time, fairly widespread to widespread light or moderate rainfall with isolated heavy rainfalls accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected over Uttarakhand on August 24, while fairly widespread to widespread light or moderate rainfall with isolated heavy heavy falls accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning has been predicted for Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on August 22, 23 and 25, Arunachal Pradesh on August 26.

Fairly widespread to widespread light or moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is also very likely over coastal Karnataka on August 22 and 23, South Interior Karnataka on August 23 and 24, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal from August 22-26.

Lastly, scattered light to moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorms and lightning is predicted over south Haryana, Delhi and southwest Uttar Pradesh during the next 24 hours, while strong surface wind speed upto (35-45 kmph) is also likely to prevail over Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh during next 24 hours.
