French carmaker, Renault, after the successful testing, is going to launch its Kwid-based MPV. The MPV is codenamed as RBC and is expected to hit the Indian markets in 2019. The car could be a huge success in India because of its good spacing and affordable pricing. Besides, RBC would give a good competition to Maruti Suzuki’s Ertiga that has long been running the show as far as affordable MPVs are concerned.

The Ertiga seven-seater MPV now a new rival to tackle in the form of Mahindra Marazzo. However, below its price range, the segment has not been explored largely. Renault wants to make the most out of the MPV space likely below Rs. 8 lakh and it is preparing to introduce RBC.

The Renault RBC is expected to be powered by the 0,99-litre, three-cylinder engine that powers the Kwid 1.0-litre in India. However, Renault is expected to retune the engine to help it power the much larger RBC MPV when it arrives in India. In the Kwid, the engine cranks out 68 Bhp and 91 Nm of torque. The RBC is also expected to be offered with both manual and AMT gearbox options, though if the latter does arrive, we aren’t sure if it’ll get the Kwid’s dial-style unit.

We will get to know more about the RBC leading up to its launch timeline.
