Govt releases names of nine bureaucrats; UIDAI head AB Pandey becomes Revenue Secretary

Pandey, who is also the chairman of Goods and Services Tax network, is taking over the position from Hasmukh Adhia.

In a recent development, Government of India has announced nine top level postings in its bureaucracy, among which, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) Chief Executive Officer Ajay Bhushan Pandey has been chosen for the post of Revenue Secretary. The new postings are replacements for senior officials who will retire over the next two-months and a half.

Pandey, who is also the chairman of Goods and Services Tax network, is taking over the position from Hasmukh Adhia.


Besides, Senior Gujarat-cadre IAS officer GC Murmu was named as the Secretary, Department of Expenditure, as part of a major bureaucratic reshuffle effected by the Centre. While Upma Chawdhary, Director of Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration will take over as Secretary in the department of youth affairs from Amarendra Kumar Dubey.

N Sivasailam, currently special secretary in the department of telecommunications has been appointed as special secretary (logistics), in the department of commerce. Special secretaries are of the same rank as secretaries with the only difference that the latter act as functional heads of a department.

Sumanta Chaudhari, current MD of Small Farmers’ Agri-Business Consortium in the agriculture department has been as secretary in the coal ministry. Chhabilendra Roul, at present special secretary in the department of agricultural

Shri Chhabilendra Roul, Special Secretary, department of Agricultural Research and Education has been appointed as officer on special duty (OSD) in the fertilizers department. Roul will take over as secretary on superannuation of Bharathi S. Sihag at the end of December.

Food Corporation of India chairman and managing director Yogendra Tripathy has been appointed as secretary in the tourism department on retirement of. Rashmi Verma at the end of November. Shalini Prasad, special secretary in the panchayati raj ministry has been appointed as member Secretary in the Tariff Commission in department of industrial policy and promotion.

Girish Chandra Murmu, currently special secretary in revenue department has been appointed as OSD in the expenditure department. He will take over as expenditure secretary when A.N. Jha retires on 31 January. Ashok Kumar Singh, additional secretary at Lok Sabha Secretariat, has been appointed as Secretary in the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes.
