When Mark Zuckerberg meets Pope Francis...

Speed News Desk | Updated on: 10 February 2017, 1:47 IST

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla met Pope Francis on 29 August at the Vatican, where he gifted the Pope a solar-powered Facebook drone.

The drone is designed to "beam connectivity to places" without internet access, abc.net.au reported. Zuckerberg and his wife described this meeting as "one we'll never forget".

In a Facebook post, Zuckerberg said, "We told him how much we admire his message of mercy and tenderness, and how he's found new ways to communicate with people of every faith around the world."

"We also discussed the importance of connecting people, especially in parts of the world without internet access."

The real drone, dubbed Aquila, weighs less than a car and can stay in the air for months at a time.

However, some social media users were more preoccupied with the picture that was attached to the post, which shows Zuckerberg presenting the gift to Pope Francis in a suit.
