  • A three-month-old Indian boy has been put in foster care after he was admitted to the hospital with severe head injuries.
  • The boy\'s parents - one of whom is a Tata Consultancy Services employee - claimed that the baby had slipped and hurt himself.
  • The infant\'s uncle has claimed that the couple has been wrongly accused of child abuse.

A three-month-old Indian boy has been reportedly removed from his US-based parents' Jersey City home after he was brought to the hospital with severe head injuries, NDTV reported.

According to the report, the parents - Ashish and Vidisha Prateek from Jaipur - claimed that the baby had slipped from the mother's hands and hit his head on a TV stand before falling to the ground. The incident occurred in December 2015.

The child was reportedly taken to two hospitals before he was handed over to foster care by the US federal authorities, who suspect this to be a case of child abuse.

Ashish Prateek, who works with Tata Consultancy Services in Jersey City, moved to the US in August 2015.

NDTV quoted Ashish's brother, Abhishek Prateek as saying that the couple was being falsely accused of hurting the child.

"It was an accident but the US authorities are saying that our family tried to harm the child. US authorities are saying the child has been treated in an inhuman way and so cannot be handed over to the parents. But this is untrue, it was an accident".
