Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has officially announced that he and his wife MacKenzie are set to take divorce after 25 years of their married life on Wednesday.
Being the richest man in the world, their divorce could affect the world ranking of the richest man.
If the couple split then, their fortune will be divided equitably. Jeff’s wife MacKenzie (48) with $69 billion, making her the world’s richest woman. Also, Bill Gate, co-founder of Microsoft Corp. Also become the richest person once again.
The state of Washington, where the couple has a home is a community property state, which means all property and debt acquired during marriage will be divided equitably by the court.
However, it will be divided by the court when both of them won’t negotiate an agreement, as per the website of McKinley Irvin, a family law firm in the region.
Jeff has also shared a tweet about his divorce with wife MacKenzie that 'We want to make people aware of a development in our lives. As our family and close friends know, after a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends,” the duo, who tied the knot in 1993, said in a joint statement shared on Twitter. “We feel incredibly lucky to have found each other and deeply grateful for every one of the years we have been married to each other. If we had known we would separate after 25 years, we would do it all again.'
However, Jeff's name was registered as the richest man in modern history by Forbes while his wife MacKenzie, who share three sons and a daughter, have properties in Washington state, Beverly Hills, New York, Washington D.C. and own a large amount of land in West Texas. They are also reportedly the 25th largest landowners in the Untied States.
