Pakistan: Lt General Asim Munir appointed the new Director General of Pakistan's ISI

Lieutenant General Asim Munir has been appointed the new Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), reported Dawn news. The Pakistan Army's media wing on Wednesday aanounced the appointment of the new DG of ISI, country's spy agency.

Gen Asim had served as a head of Miltary Intelligence (MI). He would take charge of his new role after the retirement of outgoing ISI chief Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar. On Oct 25, Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar will take off his uniform as the ISI chief.

The statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) added that Lt Gen Muhammad Adnan was appointed as the new vice chief of the general staff.

The Army also assigned Lt Gen Nadeem Zaki as commander of Mangla Corps. Lt Gen Shaheen Mazher was appointed as commander of the strategic Peshawar Corps.
