At least 88 people were killed in four separate car bombing incidents in Baghdad on 11 May.

According to Iraqi police sources, the deadliest attack occurred at north Baghdad's Sadr City when an explosive-laden vehicle blew up at a busy market, killing 61 people and injuring nearly 100 others.

The other blasts rocked three separate districts in Baghdad, killing at least 27 people.

The Islamic State has claimed responsibility of all the attacks.

The blasts took place at police checkpoints in predominantly Shia, Kadhimiyah and Hurriyah districts, as well as the Jamiyah district. The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

The Iraqi Army recently announced a military operation to recapture the town, which fell to Islamic State in 2014.

In the last two weeks, the terror outfit has claimed responsibility for two attacks targeting the Shia community in Baghdad.
