India, Italy have strong economic relations: PM Gentiloni

Italy's Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni on 30 October said that both the nations have strong economic relations, common interest and are fighting against terrorism, after receiving a ceremonial reception at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"We have strong economic relations and it's a great opportunity to make it stronger. We have common interests in global arena. The reform programme going on in India, is great opportunity for Italian businesses community. We have good investments from Indian companies in Italy," the Italian Prime Minister said while talking to the media.

Gentiloni further said that both India and Italy are fighting against terrorism and we both are committed against climate change.

"We both arec and we both are committed against climate change and we share our interest in tackling with problems realting to migration, economy and trade and global relation. We have common goals which is democracy. So, I am very happy to visit India. I hope that this visit will be a great opportunity to relaunch this relation and also my personal relations with Prime Minister Modi," he added.

Prime Minister Gentiloni will meet External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and hold delegation level talks, andwill exchange agreements and press statements.

During his two-day visit to India, the Italian Prime Minister will also call on Presidet Ramnath Kovind and Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu.

Besides official meetings, Gentiloni will also interact with Indian and Italian Chief Executive Officers (CEO)s.

The visiting dignitary will also deliver a lecture at an event, organised by Observers Research Foundation (ORF), a Delhi-based think tank.
